If you’re a fan of short turns and rhythmic carves, you’ll love the swift turning nature of the Volkl SL R skis with plate.
Why we like it:
We love carving turns and feeling the lateral g-forces created—these skis that that sensation and put it on overdrive. The SL R makes quick and easy work of a slalom course, and if you choose to use it in a groomer format, it’ll do just fine there as well.
Who it's for:
Slalom racers and technical carving enthusiasts will love the SL R’s capability to carve deep trenches in the snow. You want the most precise and powerful ski out there for carving short, clean, and round arcs.
Highlights:
A true race build and a short turn radius are all you need to make the firm groomers a total blast. With a narrow waist and a sturdy construction, the SL R can rip slalom turns with consistency and confidence.
Things to consider:
This is a very strong ski. While it makes a lot of sense for racers and slalom carvers, it’s not the best choice for those who are looking for all-mountain versatility.
